I have a Honda HR215K1 HMC Drive Shaft driven hydro-static lawnmower. The cable that attaches to the drive bail handle was not on the machine when it was given to me, and therefore the self-propelled feature was non functioning. After locating the desired parts (the cable and a spring) I proceeded to get the mower going.
However, after I took off the housing where the drive shaft and transmission is located I realized that there was no obvious place for the cable to affix to. I have spent so much time looking the mower over with a fine toothed comb and I can't figure out where the cable goes. I mean, I figured this would be a quick fix but its turning into a nightmare.
If anyone has a drive shaft driven mower with the drive bail handle cable installed that could shed some light on this issue, I would be forever be grateful. I'm a fairly mechanically inclined person, and refuse to let a machine win.
Thanks in advance to anyone's assistance.

The "HMC" tells me it's a Canadian model. I have access to US products, but I think in the case of the HR215 models, they are mechanically the same.
Here are a few pages from the shop manual that show the cables, connections, etc.
You may wish to get printed copy of the shop manual. Honda offers them on eBay with free shipping; here' the link to the HR215 manual:
