All of a sudden, would not start. Found no spark. Anyone else ever had problem with ignition coil? Expensive to replace, but ok if this is somewhat common. Can anyone help with troubleshooting this? Thanks.
So the engine turns over (spins) okay, but just no spark, is that right?
First try a new spark plug.
If new plug still has no spark, test the ignition coil:
Ignition coil primary should measure 0.7~0.9 ohms.
Ignition coil secondary should measure 6.3~7.7 k-ohms.
Also, from the shop manual:
If no spark, disconnect blade wire/red trace at engine. Try spark test again.
- If still no spark, fault in ignition system (plug, coil)
- If you do get spark, problem is in ignition switch, safety interlock system, or wiring harness.
