My H1011 rider seems to be driving a bit slow so I thought I should check the engine speed. Does anyone know the spec for idle and top speed for this machine (frame MZAW-6037582)? Also I am having trouble getting the throttle lever to hold in the choke detent position, so any help on the throttle adjust procedure would be appreciated.

Engine speed with the PTO OFF and throttle in FAST should be 3,300 rpm. With the PTO ON, it should run about 2,950 rpm.

To adjust the engine speed:



Two things to check on the choke issue.

(1) The throttle/choke pivot bolt uses two friction washers and a tension spring. I'd pull it all apart, replace the two washers (#11 part number 90502-772-003) and tighten up securely.



(2) There was a service bulletin on the throttle cable way back in 1994. The brass end cap (ferrule) of the cable housing was being crushed by the hold-down clamp (part #1), preventing the choke from closing. The fix is to replace the throttle/choke cable with a longer version and make sure the clamp is on the housing (green), NOT then end cap (red). Note: this fix affected ONLY gear-transmission models, and NOT hydrostatic drive models. The part number for the longer cable is 17911-772-000 ($7.72 list price).
