HONDA GXV390 wiring issue (rats ate it)

I have an australian skid steer called a KANGA KID. It is the 113 model and comes with a GXV390 electric start. It is about 13 years old. The serial is GJAA 6000000+. No other descriptors. Honda dosn't have it in their system and can give me no info with out the other descriptors. The rats ate most of the wiring but the kill switch wires remained intact so have been able to use it with just the pull start. Now I want to put some lights on it and maybe a small atv winch (no more than 300 lbs pull - couple of hay bales) so figure I will need to get the charging system back in operation. Uses a 12v 12nah? motorcycle battery but figure I can increase that some and use a trickle charger as needed.

I have wasted many hours trying to get correct info or parts so hope someone here can straighten me out.

There is a low oil sensor (horn) and I assume a kill switch as well. All I see is the horn assembly and a wire coming from the crankcase.

Ignition is transistorized magneto and works fine.

The rats ate the wires off the charge system diode so short that I can't salvage the wiring so need to replace it. They also got one of the wires going to the solenoid and both wires coming from the charge coil.

I assume I have the 1 amp system as there are only two wires coming from the diode. Red to the positive battery post on the starter. White to the coil. Charge coil wires appear to be green and white. Assume green to diode and other to ground? Could get some clip ends on remaining wire stubs.

I was able to get a replacement part from a local lawn mower shop (quite friendly) who ordered it off their schematic. Now I see this item (pictured) on line and labeled as an oil sensor diode? Also, it comes with yellow and black lead wires. So am assuming the yellow would go to the green from the charge coil and the black to the positive battery post (where the existing red now anchors).

SO - Is this the same part? Tried a volt meter and got infinite resistance in both directions. Do not have a diode check feature. It is a beckham unit.

Have not been able to find anything like it with my search engine attempts.

In general what risks if I wire it backwards? $40.00 part. Any reason to worry about charge coil polarity. I assume ac is same either way?

Any links to honda engine forums, etc. This seems so basic yet I can't seem to get an anwser. Charge coils all over e-bay but no diodes!

Thanks to any and all.
