Honda GCV135 stalls on low RPM?

Hi, Ive just brought my Honda Izy lawnmower (GCV135 engine) out of storage (2 years garaged). It started first time but will run only at full throttle (3000 RPM). If we lower the speed to lower than half throttle, the engine stalls.

Here's what we've done so far:

1. Carb cleaned and new gaskets added
2. Fuel tank cleaned and new fuel added

Does anyone know what the issue might be? We're fairly competent DIY'ers but don't want to mess around too much and break it as it does actually cut the grass.

Thanks for any help.

Probably still something blocking the internals of the carburetor; it can be very frustrating to properly clean one out, so a simple (and often inexpensive) fix is just to replace the carburetor with a new one. Check with you dealer/spares, and you ought to be able to get one for <$25 USD.

For the best cut quality and finish, always keep the throttle set to FAST when mowing.

Many thanks for the quick reply. I went out and bought an ultrasonic cleaner from Ebay and recleaned the carb. An unbelieavble bit of kit. The crud that came out even when I thought it was initially clean was incredible.

Needless to say, the lawnmower runs perfectly now at all speeds.

Thanks again.
