Honda Engines on Non-Honda Decks

So I purchased a used Honda HRT216 S3DA / Serial: MZCG 6149484. The deck is rusted through in two spots rendering the existing deck worthless. I need to either purchase a new deck, or sell off the bits piece by piece, or just see what I can get out of it "as is".

I've been looking for a project - something I can fix up and resell. So selling this mower "as is" isn't as appealing to me.

A new Honda deck is $105.00 and I will need all new baffles as well. My total OEM cost is $160.00. I paid 10.00 for this mower.

My question is - Are there any alternate decks that I can consider? I know that Honda mowers are on non-Honda decks in several retail stores. So is it possible? What issues might I encounter?

The engine is a GVC 160 OHC 4 stroke. Self propelled.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm new at this kind of thing. Thanks everyone for any input.

It shouldn't be hard to find a deck that will work. That engine is used on many different models and brands. Things to consider that might affect what you want to do I'm guessing... blade brake clutch, self propel system, handlebar controls.

The engine bolt pattern can easily be drilled and mounted on any deck. If you have BBC you need to find a deep enough deck to accomondate the longer crank. Your self propel trans and axle would be very very difficult to mount to a different deck. If you have a belt driven Honda you could use a rear drive trans from your new deck would require measuring and getting a new belt. If you have a drive shaft drive. You need to look into getting a pulley conversion or possible just making it a push mower.
