honda drive problem HRX217KVKA

Hi, I have a honda lawnmower model HRX217KVKA ser MAGA 1400114 that I am having very low drive output so I replaced the cable and put on a new belt. this did not change performance at all, so i was told that the transmission is bad, i got the new updated one I think part number 06200-vh7-305 it had diferent type of arm that large spring attached to, what looks like a plastic pully... I thought great this will correct my problem but, no I still have no drive. I am able to adjust ca, to lock up wheels with engine off while pushing down on paddles...now I am thinking i should see if the old arm (may also be used as belt tenisioner) should have been put on/changed befor installing new transmission... any help will make my wife happy as she loves to cut the grass..

There are a number of service bulletins from Honda on this model; attached is one that addresses drive problems. To really get everything correct, a shop manual is strongly recommended. There a dozens of pages with great details, and with all the different versions and parts for this model, I would not attempt repairs without one. Honda has them direct on eBay (free shipping and updates for 3 years) for $35:

hey robert thanks for the info,, the service bulletin stopped at page 8 of 9,any chance i could get 9 of 9, also i can adjust the cable to where it will lock up drive wheels with engine off and paddle engaged and this is with new transmission.... what causes the tension on the belt ? should this model have the transmission rotate when engaged?

Page 9 just has admin details, flat-rate time, warranty procedures, etc. Stuff a dealer needs to file a claim.

Yes, the trans. pivots and tension kept on the belt/pulley via a spring that pulls back on the transmission's case:

robert @ honda thanks for the info, do you work for american honda motor as i am ex american honda dsm and started in gardena ca wking with power equipmrnt when it was first spun off from motorcycle field service... I generaly can figure things out but this slow creeping speed has me ?? myself... i do not know if i should of changed the arm that holds the return spring as if looks different and rubs on belt. and may have been used as a tenisioner. what do you think thanks again for help
