Honda carb leaking fuel

My Honda lawnmower won't stop leaking fuel at the carburetta. I think it is leaking out of some kind of overflow pipe next to the air intake. I.ve checked the float valve and needle and they appear ok. As soon as I reassemble it and open the fuel line, it comes pouring out.

Just because the needle looks ok doesn't mean it is sealing against the seat. From your description I would say it isn't sealing. Sometimes it is just easier and cheaper to replace the carb, then it is to spend the time trying to clean it. I just put a new carb on a GC190 because it wouldn't seal. List price on the complete carb is less than $16.00.

Hi, thank you for your reply. It just seems so temperamental. I managed to fix it last time by dissembling it, doing a bit of cleaning and reassembling. Today my dad took it out to use and after starting the engine, he could see it dripping out. Some of the gaskets have started to perish. it does sound like the whole thing needs replacing. I've put it off because of the way it is connected to the control rods, seems like a pain in the *** to take off.

I've got a similar problem and initially thought it was the gaskets as well, but after cleaning the carb and replacing all four gaskets, the gas still comes out. I'm pretty sure it is carb replacing time, but I'd like to figure out how/why the gas is coming out too. Anyone have any other ideas?

It is possible to over tighten the bolt that holds the float bowl in place. When that happens the bowl can warp a bit around the top gasket allowing fuel to leak.

The float sometimes can come out of adjustment. It can be put back by bending the tab that is in contact with the needle.
