Honda 5 hp EM 5000 SX generator won't run. Pressure washed while running two weeks ago, left running when complete for awhile then shut off. Next day it wouldn't start. Appeared to have no spark. Replaced ignition module and plug which produce a spark but somewhat faint. With starting fluid it fires once only. Will not go so much as a second revolution. New carburetor this year but should have kept running until starting fluid used up. Still suspect ignition but stumped. What could be killing engine after first kick?

Try disconnect oil alert sensor. They are known for failures.
BTW there is only 13 variation of this EM5000SX so the serial number is important here.
Did you use the generator to provide electricity to the power washer to wash something else or did you pressure wash the generator while the generator was running? Two very different scenarios.
I'll try that. Thanks. But one thing. If the wire from ignition module to switch is disconnected, then the low oil sensor cannot shut it down. All of my attempts were with ground wire disconnected making the ignition "live".
