Home Depot Honda Toro

Is it true that the Honda and Toro self propelled mowers a Lowe's/Home Depot are not the same as those from a Honda Dealer? Other than Home Depot, the nearest Honda dealer to me is 110 miles, but it may be worth it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There are commercial mowers the dealer sells that you won't find at Lowes/HD. I'm pretty sure a dealer would be happy to sell you a homeowner mower though and it would be just like the homeowner mowers at Lowes/HD. The dealer might have better service after the sale (could not be worse) but HD has such an easy return policy you could take the mower you bought back within a reasonable time if it broke or you just didn't like it.
More to the point... are you looking for a commercial mower?

No, just a residential self propelled. About a1/3 acre lot, but I've bought so much junk over the years, including from manufacturer's dealers, at my age, I'd like to get something decent that will "see me out" as they say in the South.

If your asking if Lowe's/Home Depot mowers are the same quality as those at a dealership then the answer would be yes there the same quality. There's no difference.

I'd imagine most of the Hondas and Toros at HD will give years of good service if you take care of them. The warranty is kind of a sticking point since Lowes/HD don't have service depts. They'd send you to a dealer or repair shop for any warranty work and you'd be w/o a mower for 2 weeks at least. One of my sister's church friends has a new mower from HD in the shop. Been there almost a month. I cut her grass with my 7 year old Exmark that I bought for $200 a few months back.
HD is very lenient on returns though.
But yeah, if a dealer sells a mower that's also available at Lowes/HD it will be no different.
