I hit a stump with my craftsman model 247.290000 and it shut off. After checking the blade, I tried to restart the mower. It wouldn't even try to turn over. I checked online and read about flywheels and crankshafts and started to disassemble the mower. I got 30 minutes in and started questioning if a mechanical problem such as mentioned would stop the mower from trying to start electrically. I checked the spark plug, looks good. Fuses look good. Just wondering if the flywheel or crankshaft issue would prevent mower from at least trying to start. Looking for any suggestions or advice.

Export threadHitting a stump won't prevent the engine from trying to start, unless the crankshaft is jammed preventing it from turning the flywheel. Most likely you have an electrical problem. Just checking but did you remember to turn off the deck before attempting to start the mower.

If you hit something hard enough, besides bending blade, and possible damaging blade adaptor or bending crankshaft, it should shear the flywheel key. It will pull all day long but not run....maybe pop once of twice with starting fluid.
Need to pull flywheel and check/replace key.

Yesterday a forum member responded to an similar situation. That response should still be active. It suggested looking for a blown fuse. Design varies so consult your manual schematic. The idea is that an electric motor locked up but connected electrically will demand more and more current until it fries or a fuse (fusible link) opens. Just an idea. edit: I see you already checked the fuses. Will the starter still work (uninstalled test)?
