As one of the Honda guys here, I can help you with the ENGINE questions, if you can tell me which Honda engine is on the mower. Really best if you can find the engine serial number, which would be stamped into the block, usually in the form of "GXXX-1234567" With that, I can pull up a shop manual, parts list, service bulletins, etc., but again, only for the Honda Engine.

I'm hopeless with regards to any other part of the mower, sorry!

the same as the one in the link just no where near as tidy ,engine is GV400 2074844. it has no spark so i am after a coil, which is proving a little hard to track down

I punched in that engine serial number and you are correct: The coils used on that old engine are long gone.

Both the ignition coil and coil assy. (battery charge?) have been discontinued for a long time now.

Best bet is to try and find a donor motor with usable parts. Best of luck!
