somebody stop me!!!, i must have l.a.d. (lawnmower addiction disorder) !!, well once again another c-list score, i hope this slows down soon, they don't usually show up like this, so i'm taking them when i can, pics are in as i got them condition, the l/b's are 6255 commercial and model 5247 19", the honda is a hr194, i could have brought home a m series l/b also, and may go back for that one, but those never really did anything for me, the 5247 fired right up and runs well, the honda only needs some carb work, the bad on the 6255 is a chunk out of the deck and looks to bad to try to use or repair, i got it for $20., the honda for $30., and the 5247 for $30., not bad i think, they should all clean up very well. i threw in a pic of my restored 1977 atc 90 just for fun!!

yeah i think i did real well, of course some of these will become sellers, as i'm just getting to many to keep around, the m model may still come home with me, i think i could get that one for $40. or less, i know there close to commercial, but most landscapers don't want them, i would most likely just sit on it, which is why i passed on it:rolleyes:

yeah, i was bummed when i found the deck busted up, couldn't see it in the pics he had, but for what i got it for, it's still worth it just to part out, or try to find a good deck, the engine still has spark and good compression!!

If I couldn't find a deck, which will be a tough hunt, here's what I'd do. If it doesn't already, get it running, clean the engine up, and keep it original (no painting). Remove it, fuel tank, and all the "commercial" parts, and list them in a single lot on eBay, and sit back and watch the fish bite. Not kidding.

yeah, i see there's an early commercial bricktop engine on there now that's going way up, that's why i grabbed it anyway, not sure if that's what i'll do, but i'll keep the mower on the back burner for now.

That's good advise. Another idea (maybe more trouble... but probably more money) is to sell the parts one-by-one on eBay. I'd probably bid on those front wheels for my bricktop commercial.

I had a thought about your 6255. Maybe the deck could be fixed with fiberglass. Have you ever worked with that stuff? It can be very strong and durable. The only drawback I can think of is that the patch area would be thicker and would never look original - although you could paint it LB green.

That fix would be a lot of trouble but that's a valuable mower and worth the effort, IMO.

I say all this without having had a good look at the damaged area. So maybe I'm completely off about the fiberglass.

Me too! That is the next one I want to get. I don't have any brick tops.

well i got the honda hr194 up and running this evening, runs like new, cleaned up very nicely as well, i'm glad i grabbed that one as well, i'll be looking at another early honda tomorrow, most likely buy it, only $40. bucks and it runs as it should, will need a repaint (only the deck), but looks pretty good and solid in the pics i've seen, these early hondas are worth grabbing when the price is right:thumbsup:
