Hello everyone. I've just moved into my new home and I think there's grass under all this snow. I can see bits poking out here and there but I bought it in the winter and haven't seen it yet so I'm trusting that there is some and that I didn't buy a mud pit.

The old owner left me one of those reel mower things in the garage just until I can buy myself my own mower but I want to wait and see what the grass looks like before I choose. Until then I thought I'd find a place to come and learn about mowers.

Welcome to the forum. It's interesting that you haven't even seen the actual land that you bought. That doesn't happen in the deep south.

Please post a picture of the old reel mower.

Welocme to LMF...hey, what's a reel mower? Don't you mean "real mower" the kind you put gas in and pull a cord to start? Your screen name is really good, is your real name Nick?

My younger brother's name is Nick, when we were kids we would tease him about being "Nick off the old block"....

Yes, I'm Nick. Lucky guess, guys! In school I was always "Nick the Stick" cause I'm a runner and pretty skinny. Guess it could be worse.

I'll try to figure out how to put on a picture of my mower.

if the old owner left a reel mower then you probably have a smaller yard like mine where a reel mower would be of use.maybe get rid of the old reel and get one of those new "scott" brand reel mowers that have trailing wheels. i had one and the cut is great and faily easy to push but it won't cut longer length grass very well,or maybe a corded mower.lawn boy has a 20" cut gas mower, they work very well and last for years.
