I have a 100 series john deer mower and its shuts off when I engage the cutting blades

This has been covered many times, you have to start by checking two safety switches. Start with the seat safety, then reverse safety. Corrosion, frayed wires or bad connections are the most common problems.

OMGX22661_J7 operators manual, check all wiring by hand & visually from pto switch at dash to pto clutch located bottom side of engine, key removed & park brake on.
