Help needed

I have a 1998 murray with a 12hp Briggs it was runing and driving when I parked it
It's been sitting a year and it want start it has gas
and good spark but will no crank up
It will spin pretty free it just will not start
We tried starter fluid but still did not start

Any ideas what is wrong??

Spray fluid into the plughole, reinstall spark plug and wire, if it fires and dies, fuel issue, if no fire, then no spark.... Also, is the gas 1 year old?
Are getting fuel to the carburetor?

It has new gas and it is getting fuel to the carb and I'm 13 im not a mechanic by no means but my dad helped me

Do you try starting fluid down the spark plug hole?
