Help installing extension spring

I have a 1998 Yard Machine lawn tractor. A couple of weeks ago, the extension spring that connects to the lift assembly mechanism broke. Unfortunately, when it did so, it fell off and I wasn't able to see where it connected on the other end. I have the new spring, but I can't figure out where I'm supposed to connect it, even after reviewing the parts manuals. Any suggestions?

Since you looked at the parts manuals and that was no help, you will need to find a similar machine to inspect or you can keep looking for a wear pattern that would coincide with where the old spring was attached. Usually there is a worn or shiny spot where the spring would move a small amount removing the paint of the chassis. Look around under the machine with a flashlight, you may just find it.
