I've been given an old Snapper mower which I plan to fix up. The only problem is I need to know the model so I can buy the parts. All I know so far is it is at least 20 years old. It has an 18hp Kohler Magnum motor. The outside dimensions of the mower deck is 52 inches but it measures 48inches fro blade tip to blade tip. The only identifying label that I can find is worn and unreadable. Any help in identifying would be appreciated.

I can't be 100% sure, but it looks a lot like the drawing of the GT180H on this parts manual on eBay ... maybe that will help get you closer to figuring out what it is. (I hope!)
it does look just like mine. i have a snapper 2000GX(model # GT180, series 4 + 5 ) with a 18 hp onan engine. it is a tough working tractor. i actually pulled a 5000# vehicle with mine, with wheel weights. if you are interested to know they do have a snowblower attachment for them also. i know i have 2 for mine. i may be wrong and it may be a 20 hp, i have not actually cleand the engine enough to tell. mine ran at the time i bought it for $400. And i love the tilt steering wheel on it.
