Just recently found an old Lawn Boy mower, I've tried searching up the model number but can't find much info on it.
Model number: 5124
Serial Number: 9106608
Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope to get this mower running again for the first time in who knows how long.
It looks like an F-series engine on an alloy deck -- a great combination. It's definitely worth fixing. You could try draining the old gas and putting in some 2-cycle (mixed) gas - then try to start it.

That is a nice find as long as the compression is good and there is no excessive play in the connecting rod wrist pin or the crankshaft. Judging from the amount of greasiness on the top of the deck, it will need new crankshaft seals. The carb and the gas tank will both need cleaning. It may need a new foam air cleaner element. Check for spark. Take off the muffler and clean out the exhaust ports if they are plugged with carbon. Plugged ports will cause either no start or hard starting. Look through the port holes and see if there is any excessive scoring on the piston. I’d replace the spark plug and the fuel line. These are just some of the basics you will need to perform to get it up and running again. Without looking it up, I can tell you have a D engine Lawn Boy with a 19 inch deck from the mid to late ‘70s. I don’t know what your mechanical skills are or how familiar you are with older 2 stroke Lawn Boys, but I think you will find them easy to work on. Your mower looks like it is quite savable. If I would’ve found it, I would’ve been all over it.

I decided to do a little more research on your Lawn Boy 5124 and I see that it is a Canadian model. It looks like the power head is identical to my 7260G that you see in my avatar. If it is, the engine model is a D-409 and uses a 32:1 mix. Hope this helps you out.
Not sure if I should start a new string, but here goes anyway. I have a Lawn Boy 7260/D408. Using this forum I found links to several serial number tables to help date the mower. Thanks to all who posted these links. But all of the tables show 9-digits serial number ranges. The serial number on mine is only seven digits...5507276. Does that mean it's a 1970 since the published serial number range for that year is 000000001-099999999?
By the way, the mower hasn't been touched for probably 15 years and started on the third pull after reading tips...also from this forum...about cleaning the exhaust ports (mine were indeed clogged).
