HELP!! Engine Replacement Info

Hi I have a Ariens 21" Self-Propel Push Mower Model: 911052 Serial: 010061 took it in because it was dying every time I go up hill even if there was a full tank of gas in it. So the repair place said that carb is leaking air and preventing the engine from running correctly they said that the engine is dead. It had a 5.5 HP Tecumseh Engine on it.
So I was wandering how would I go about replacing the engine with a used one that I had found on craigslist. What do I need to look for in the used engine to make sure that it will work with the lawn mower I have.

Needs to be correct shaft diam and length.

Ok thank you very much. What about hooking up the throttle cable?

That is just something you will have to adjust to fit unless you get an exact replacement.
