Hi, new here! I'm really sorry about this but hope you guys can still help me out.

I know this isn't a mower. I have a DEK ( Chinese Brand) chipper shredder. It's a 15 hp. After breaking it in with 10w-30 oil I changed the oil at about 6 hours. It was running fantastic. I changed the oil, with the same 10w-30, filled it up to the right amount and then put it back outside under the tarp. I didn't start it up, I should have but I knew I was going to use it in a few days. So about 4 days later I took the cover off and tried to crank it over. It was seized up. opened up the oil cap and BOOM. Water- oil came gushing out. So I know it was hydro locked. I'm really confused, I changed the oil, put the machine under the cover, and somehow a gallon of water comes pouring out. An advice is great guys, thanks.

When you changed the oil and put it under the tarp had it rained since you put the tarp on it and when you next looked at it? If yes, maybe the tarp has a hole in it. After you changed the oil before you put the tarp on it, did you power wash it or hose it off before you put the tarp on it? If the answer is no to both then I don't know how the water got in the engine. Sorry

If the above didn't occur, who has it out for you!! For a gallon of water to come out, someone had to pour it in!!

I'm glad someone else has come up with the same idea. I hope that is not the case, but you may want to lock your machine in a building and if you store other machines in the same area you may want to check those also. Keep us updated.

Sorry for the late reply guys, no I didn't wash it and the tarp is dry. I live in the Maine woods so no one would be snooping around there. Thanks for the replies though. Guess its a strange mystery.:confused2::thumbdown:
