RNC here. I started mowing grass with a Snapper 16" electric push mower in 1957.
It was made of 3/16" steel with saw-tooth notches across both ends that served to
row up the clippings and keep your feet from getting under the deck. The handle
flipped over so at the end of a cut you just flipped it over and moved over as you
started your back-cut... I went from that to a two-cycle Clinton, 16" cut.
Nowadays there's a Case 210 with a 42" deck; a Jacobson 12 horse w/a 42" deck;
a newly acquired Craftsman 16/42 and a Honda 4514 w/a 38" deck. I have two Swisher
tag-a-longs (60") and 4.5 acres of grass/grounds to address. At present, the Case and
one Swisher are the two that are in active service. The Honda needs some tlc (read filters, etc)
and the Craftsman refuses to fire up.
I've got a 12 horse IH Cub and a 20 horse (Tecumseh) x 42" Murray that are both in
need of time and attention.
I look forward to being a part of this group and the learning/sharing process that goes with it.
