Joined a few days ago, this is my first post here, so a little short intro to what I am doing here.

My 12 year old has been going with me to auctions for about 6 months now, He noticed how mowers always seem to sell.
so he got on youtube and researched it out, and that he wants to try it... He goes on telling me most times its the carb that is just dirty.
So I am all excited, that he wants to do something other than video games.

He finds this Troy-bilt and we go get it for $30, bring it home.
Prior Owner stated it ran last season, and the throttle is frozen.
so he went out and bought a new mower.

My son tried to start it when we got home, and Nothing.
we checked the cable the P/O was talking about, marked "BLADE CONTOL" and watched how the bar moved, but other end of the cable didn't.
had him release the cable, and saw the Switch-stop wasn't moving forward.

Part 621 and 922A in this parts diagram: Parts and Diagrams for Briggs and Stratton 126T02-0675-B2

It seems the cable doesn't want to move the switch forward, thus not letting it fire.
Helped him take the spring off, and we moved the switch forward, and it started. it died out, so we reattached the cable so it would stay in the open position. restarted and it came to life. man, his face lit up! and so did mine!

He will be doing his first tune up now!

few pics to share,

So I guess we are needing a new cable? Do these stretch out over time?
