Hi, folks. Glad to be here.
I have 3 mowers, one of which I actually use.
1. Cub Cadet 3205 is the one I use. I love it.
2. I also have a Craftsman 22 horse, 54" cut (?) I bought new around 1994. It's been in the shop for over a year. I made the mistake of telling the guy I was in no hurry. It pumps oil through the egr valve into the carb. I've taken it to 3 repair shops. They all say the problem is an oil-soaked air cleaner. They replace it & charge me $200. I take it home & crank it up. 15 minutes later the new air cleaner is soaked with oil & it starts chugging.
3. I bought a Scotts (made by Deere) mower for cheap. The body's like new, but the previous owner replaced the deck, now the deck belt falls off every time I engage it. The brakes only work on a flat surface (not an incline). It cranks for a full minute (with jumper cables) before it will start. Once it starts, it runs fine. If I turn it off, I'm back to cranking with jumper cables. This mower is near the bottom of my to-do list.
I also have a 6hp B&S horizontal engine I bought at an auction. It had been used to drive some kind of water pump. Parts of the pump are still mounted on the crank. I haven't even pulled the rope on this one, so i have no idea what condition it's in.
If it ever cools off here, I may start working on what I have instead of buying more!
