Hi folks. Thought I'd join to learn more about mowers. I haven't mowed a yard in about 30 years, but we recently moved to the country with 2 mowable acres. Kind of rough terrain with weeds mixed in with large ant and mole mounds!

I bought a used Poulan 42" 17.5 hp tractor mower and have already learned how to replace my drive belt... lol. But it fixed it for only the cost of a belt! So far, this tractor does most of what I need. For trimming, I recently bought a new Echo string trimmer - for durability. It does great!

I also literally just ordered a Husqvarna HU775BBC to handle a ditch and a dog run area - and any other harder to reach areas, etc.

So... I will browse and learn and as I learn, I will share when I can to help others as well.

Enough rambling for now though. I was supposed to just say... Howdy!

Minor update, the Poulan riding mower is a 16.5 HP engine, not 17.5.

Since posting my "howdy", I have managed (and I am a complete novice mind you) to replace my deck belt, the clutch cable (broke at the clutch spring) and removed the mower deck to inspect and clean. Discovered that one of my blades was attached to a bad mandrel (wrong word?) bolt that was smashed at the "star pattern" where the blade connects to it. Just received a replacement bolt and will attempt to install it this very afternoon.

So far, I have managed these repairs with just printed instructions from the manual or internet. Have managed to do so without need to consult here... so far. lol Heck, at this rate, I might learn enough to help others myself in here!

Cheers.
