Have to find out how old this mower is!

I just joined this forum because, as the title says I "...have to find out how old this mower is!".

I have a Lawn Boy Model 7050, Serial # 9465704 that was given to me 16yrs ago, I still use it and runs great. I looked at some sites that say a 7050 model with a serial # starting with 9 was built in 1959! I can稚 believe it is this old and may be a 7050 from the 80痴. It was built by OMC of Canada in Peterborough, Ontario. Does anybody have any insight on what year this mower was built. I don't have a picture handy but it is completely green in color.

I checked Lawnboy site, and it shows that model 7050 and serial you give, was truly made in 1959. Wow, that is some age, but LB's, especially the older one, seems to run a very long time. I have some made back in 1990's, that run better than a new one.

Is the top/tank plastic or metal?

If you indeed have a 59, 21" push C14 engine 2.5 hp runs at 2800 rpms...should be gold and off white....Wish I had a C

I am interested to find out the exact year of your machine. I have hard manuals from 54 to 67 and pdf from 54 to 84 and can only find it in 59. I have looked on line and seen one called an 81...but I find no 7050 in the modle list from 80 untill 84....looks like a steel deck from pic...is that correct?

That is wrong, it looks to be a 1983 model. Look at the drawings of both the 1983 and the 1959.

No modle 7050 is shown for 83...and it is definitely not a 59...my info stops at 84 ...but given the fact that my 87 still has a cast deck..I would date your machine in the 90s

Looking at the product details of all of the 7050 mowers from 83 to 86, they all had the steel deck, so it is in that range of 83-86.

Lol... I see what is going on....you are in Canada and have machine manufactured in Canada....You are looking at US modle numbers and serial numbers....I have no information on Canadian machines so I can not help past this point

Have you looked at the drawings from the Lawnboy site? It is obviously the mower he has.

I agree that it's probably from the 83-86 range....it looks like the assembly drawing from the '83. The mower was given to me in 1998 and the guy said he got it from his father in law and it was "at least" 10yrs old, so it make sense that it would be from that era.

I appreciate everybody's input on this. This is a great forum with lots of helpful info!

For the 7050 I looked in my hard copy 53-68 service manual...his machine was not there...then I looked at toro lookup pdf..1953-1984 modle list and specs....his machine is not there. These are my only sources of info and are for US modles. However I have found other threads about dating the same machine and it was determined that the confusion is because the newer 7050 machine was made in Canada and has diffrent serial number coding than a US machine. With this in mind..his machine may very well be an early to mid eighties machine.....but whatever the year...it's not even close to 1959.
One thing I can say...Chris...you have a conversation piece for sure...lol
@fish I tried to look at your link but my phone don't have the right java script or something to that effect.
I'll check it out on the computer when I get home.

Didn't you at least click on the link to the Lawnboy Master Parts Viewer???

Why not?

Anyone over the age of 30 could tell that it was not made in 1959..
