some sources suggest valves not seating or need adjustment when restarting is difficult. is this model overhead valve i do not see valve cover for access to adjusting valves
another possibility may be the timing jumped also. depend's on the year as to it being a OHV. you will have to check the engine serial # to determine the year of manufacturing.
