Hard starting engine

Have John Deere 318 with a starter problem, I have to engage the starter and it keeps clicking trying to engage starter 3 to 4 times and finally starts. I don't want to pull engine to possibly replace the solenoid which I think is the problem??

Check to see if you have 12.5volts on the small wire at solenoid when you have the key switch to start, if you have then replace solenoid if you believe all wiring connections are good.
