This is my second Honda mower, very happy with first mower , had FRo 8-9 years. Purchased Honda , HRX217VKA last Sept. 14, 2013. Serial # maga-2276753. Use this mower every week and was great up until the last 3 times of use. Now takes 6-10 pulls to start, used to be 1-2 pulls. I see on this forum it may be a choke problem, if so, is it some thing I can get at to try and repair ? It looks like there may be a factory issue with some units ?
Appreciate your assistance.
Honda did issue a Service Bulletin for a defective autochoke back in January. Parts of the choke can bind, causing it to stick open and making it hard or impossible to start. Your serial number
is in the range of mowers that
may have a problem. Since you have warranty remaining, the best bet is to have your local Honda dealer inspect and evaluate the mower and determine the actual problem. If it is a defective autochoke, updated/redesigned parts will be installed under warranty at no charge. You do not have to return the mower to Home Depot for service; any Honda dealer will provide warranty service, but during this busy time of year for mower service, keep in mind, some dealers may give service priority to customers who purchased from them. Finally, be sure to tell the dealer to request your authorization
before doing any work and confirm if the repairs are or are not covered under warranty.
