Brother law has a jd gx345 with a twin FD611V053084 engine that has no spar. Unit turns over and has power on both sides of coil. To lights come on at the dash but I think that's normal until it's running. Is there a way to test the pickup by the fly wheel to see if its bad or any other way to determine the problem

From what I found a good place to start is the time delay. Has anyone had this problem

I tapped on the time delay and got spark again. For around $20 I should have it fixed

What is the "time delay"?

From what I can tell it delays the mower from shutting down when you hit a bump and trip the seat. It also does something with the oil and temp lights at start up. I could be wrong this is just what I have read from others. The part # is AM128906.
