I'm planning on rebuilding the head on my FE290 engine this spring, (New valves, seals, guides, springs etc) and i don't have any guide reamers that are the appropriate final size which is .250" or 1/4" 7MM
any recommendations on a reamer?
i haven't bothered to talk to the local machinist as they refused to install new guides on my own first OHV briggs i rebuilt, so i just went without new guides on it. still runs good on the woodchipper. But i've since acquired the required tools and knowledge to do so.]
Any knowledge you can drop on me is welcome.

You have a slight problem. The head use two different valve guides. The 49002-2090 valve guide is NLA. Now the other valve guide 49002-2101 is still available.

It like the FB490V I am working on the intake is available but the exhaust valve and seal are not. I lucked out that only the intake valve is unusable.

A standard .275 reamer should work as a middle of the road reamer since the valve stems for FE290 is intake 6.930 mm (0.2728 in) and Exhaust 6.915 mm (0.2722 in)
Now valve guide service limit is 7.065 mm (0.2782 in). These measurements are from the SM. As you can see a .250 reamer is the wrong size.

In this case both guides are the same, i forgot to mention the spec number is DS08, and is part of a Kawasaki Mule, that IPL shows both of them as 2101 guide. Now thats odd, i could have swore the service manual showed a final size of .250" maybe not. i'll have to look again.

This is from my Mule manual, 7.08 MM is the max,
But, i was able to find the P/N for the Kawasaki Reamer, in the back of the book. 57001-162. and i've seen it listed as a

Kawasaki 57001-162 7mm Valve Guide Reamer

An expensive reamer from Kawasaki at $55.38 list. 7mm equals 0.275591 inches so I would go with the 7mm then.
