I have the Echo PE-2620S. I bought it through the Home Depot storefront at AAFES.com. If you are a veteran, you are authorized to shop AAFES online but not in store. Still worth it just for the tax-free treatment even at the Home Depot storefront, plus 10% minimum discount and always free shipping. AAFES is what we used to call the PX.Thanks so much.
@ MParr & Tonebalone, what brand, model or style are your dedicated edgers? MParr mentioned Echo edger.
Lots avail. Some v. expensive (like old school, 3 wheel, gas engine), that my "get off my lawn, killin' the grass" neighbor had.
While back, got a (not bad) corded, rolling, metal blade, dedicated edger. (used similar (lighter) when a kid).
It works ok, until... rains heavy & soil fills trenched groove. Or rains every day & grass + dirt is 2 - 4" over walk. Then it's ultra-slow & hard on back.
Then I need a "real" edger - it can rain, for months. Then, almost impossible w/ a string trimmer (me) to cut a mat of runners & dirt.

The Echo edger is available in a smaller, much less expensive 21cc version and can be had with a curved or straight shaft. I highly recommend upgrading the blade to the Oregon 40-002. It's a beast and leaves a wider groove.

I'm on team Echo, too. Almost all my 2-cycle equipment is Echo. I have a Stihl chainsaw that's a loaner from my sister. It's a small top-handle saw that's way harder to start than my big Echo CS-590. My string trimmer, edger, etc, is part of an Echo PAS system. I.e. a power head with attachments. I have an edger attachment that works well. I can't edge with a trimmer either. I've had a curved shaft trimmer, but now my trimmer is straight shaft which I prefer. I'm 64 and 5'9". I use a shoulder strap. I can't hold a trimmer, edger, etc for very long.

I am 76 years old and run a Tanaka TBC340 trimmer that is 32cc and 1.8 HP. that weighs 10.6 lbs. bought it new in 2004 still running great today. Never had E10 run in it just pure gas. I mix my own. Still original carb never been touched. Oh yes, I did put a speed feed head on it. I thank God every day, I am still physically fit enough to run it. Despite that fact I was diagnosed with Lupus 3 years ago. Yes, they wanted to put me on all their drugs including Enbrel. I Opted not to take it after a while and treat it naturally. Went back to my rheumatologist fist of June. She asks me if I was still taking their meds and I said, no. She asks, what I was taking, I said nothing. She told me that my blood work looked really good. She said I don't know what you are doing but to keep doing it. See you in 6 months. Thank you, Jesus.
