I started repairing mowers, pressure washers, and other small internal combustion gasoline engines as a side project. I find it very easy and rewarding. This website is a great resource. Thanks to all who share their information and experience here. -Mark

YamTZ, good to see you with decent tools. We carp (me too) about quality of chinese stuff, but some are adequate, and should open up repair to people of average means. I can still remember what a revelation a $150 chinese drill press was back in the 70's when good (but expensive US ) were $300-$400. Anyone serious about repair or hobbyist should know that a $150 investment in measuring tools will quickly pay for itself. Yes, you will make mistakes , and still come out ahead. For years I used to stroll into Sears to look at the machinist hand tools always locked away behind a glass case. Now you can buy a decent electronic caliper for $15. 'Course lots of Americans are out of work and that is a down side. But as chinese "boats all rise" and their people demand higher wages, jobs will return (and already are, but not filled by those who don't want their hands dirty)

PS From your name I guess you are a bike enthusiast. Just watched 2 good shows on the 500GP where Rainey and Schwantz raced. Wild rides on 170HP 2 strokers in 300 lb bikes.
