I’m looking at purchasing a Gravely for $500 but needs some work. Does anyone know what part this is, what it should cost to repair, and if this would be an ok deal for me. I received the pictures from the owner but he doesn’t know Much about it either. Just that the gear is for the pulleys.DAC664A5-6BE7-4F7A-B2D2-2AE1B7EEE48C.jpegF6E5BA1C-2BDF-4653-81B0-AC0A6F3F419D.jpeg6CF8DDF0-B3B0-418D-AFD5-98A17794AAEB.jpeg

Let me get this straight. The owner has a mower. The mower is partially disassembled. But the owner doesn't know anything about what the pieces are or who might have taken it apart.

Here's what I've seen a thousand times... The owner is acting ignorant because of 1 of 2 things...
  1. He knows the mower is seriously damaged. While you focus on the gears, he knows the engine was run out of oil or some other VERY serious fault. When the magician says "Everybody watch my left hand", that's the time to be watching his right hand. It's a very deceptive form of bait & switch. Or....
  2. He knows too many important or expensive parts have been lost or damaged. Parts that may not be replaceable without buying another complete mower of the same model. And this may be because it's not a current model. It might be a model they only made for 2 years, or some such.
If it was a good, repairable mower, then believe me he'd have it out mowing right now.

You'll be better off you save your money and buy a runner, even if it it costs $2000.
