Gravely Pro Turn 52 vs Ferris IS 700z

I'm looking at the Ferris 700z with a 52" deck and Kawi engine or a Gravely Pro Turn 52. The Gravely will be roughly $6800 OTD local that is 20 minutes from me. I also have a second Gravely dealer within 20 minutes in the other direction. The Ferris would be bought and delivered to me from a dealer several hours away for $6000. The closest Ferris dealer is an hour away. There are 3 Ferris dealers an hour away.

Both mowers have their perks. I just don't know if the Gravely is worth the extra money for local service. I would hope neither would need service under their 4 years of warranty but you never know. What do y'all think?

I love my Gravely but with that deal I'd go for the Ferris.

I too love my Gravely, but $6K for that Ferris is a very good deal(if that is an OTD/delivered price). I had a bad experience with a Craftsman lawn tractor that had a Briggs Intek engine and I shied away from looking at Ferris ZTR's basically because they are made by B & S. I notice, however, that the IS700Z uses the Vanguard series engine and my experience with that particular B & S engine(if they haven't changed it since the early 90's) would have me highly recommend it. You can't go wrong with the Gravely and a Kawi engine, but again that seems to be a sweet deal on the Ferris. Maybe if you talk to the Gravely dealer again he will try to get closer to the price of the Ferris if he really wants to sell you a ZTR. BTW, I paid $6,800 OTD for my 2012 Gravely Pro-Turn 152(the 100 XDZ series that is a step up from the base Pro-Turn). That was approx. $1k less than the 2012 MRSP and $1,300 less than the 2013 model. As I understand the current 2014 pricing, that same ZTR would cost $7,600-$8,500 MSRP plus tax. I feel like I got a very good deal on my Gravely and have never looked back!!
