So I found this yard-man mower at the junk yard, and I like to Mess with engines and take things apart so i thought this would be a fun project to work on. When i first started messing with the mower you couldn't pull the starting cord so I just took the whole rewind starting system off and this is what I found. I assumed this was why it was at the junk yard. I decided I could try to start it with some paracord wrapped around where the pulley would go but before i tried to start it, I put a new spark plug, fresh oil and fresh gas. It started up after a few tries but it kept reving up and down so i put sea foam and fuel stabilizer in the gas tank and it helped a little but it kept surging up and down. After some research I concluded that the governor was the problem. When the mower is off the governor is stuck in the full throttle position, and I can't push it back at all. This is where I run into my current problem I watched a couple videos on how to adjust it, and all of them say to turn the governor shaft clockwise but I cant get a grip on the shaft. So am I missing something, do i need a special tool? Anyway thanks for your help!!
