Got firewood?

A strong windstorm blew thru this area early Sunday morning, causing this tree trunk to break off about 15 feet up, and it fell on the other trunk, breaking part of that one off, and they both went over onto my garage roof. Took me 2 1/2 hours to remove the trunks from the roof, and I was using only a hand saw...only an idiot would use a chain saw while on a wet roof in a strong wind. Thankfully no damages except a few scuffed shingles, which made me happy because the roof is only three years old.

For those wondering, the tree is a white cedar, we have dozens of them and they are very brittle and split easily. I could say doing this was a welcome change from mowing, but it actually kept me away from mowing for a day and a half.

Sorry to hear about this, JD. I'm glad there wasn't damage to the roof -- but that's amazing given the size of the tree.

That is some respectable stacks you have there...the pile I showed in my pics was just for outdoor firepit burning. Indoors in my garden shed and barn basement I have about 16 full cords, not face cords, FULL CORDS.

Maybe you should have kept that brush and yard debris you hauled off to the woods....one day last week we had an actual 91 degrees air temperature, with 100% humidity....and a few days later the air temp was 39 degrees with a 20 mph wind chilling it even lower.
