My co worker is selling off a bunch of stuff thet don't need when her and the husband move back to Alaska and amungst this stuff is a 2008 Troybilt Big Red 50". Its very well taken care of and he's asking $500, hoping he can sell it fast (moving due to military orders, so it was short notice).
So my question is; should I jump on this opportunity, or keep my current mower (a Craftsman 2008 L2000 42" deck)?
Awesome! Thanks guys
Saturday will be the day I get it. Hopefully it'll fit in the fiances truck lol.
Just mowed 3/4 of my lawn tonight... going to leave the other 1/4 for testing the new one!

Not sure yet lol.
The guy I'm buying it from was giving it one last mow and the belt broke. So he didn't feel right giving it to me like that, so he is replacing the belt and throwing in new spark plugs

I'm not sure what the hrs were to be honest.
Soooo... I don't think I'm going to get it. I haven't heard back from the guy at all. I called last night and left a voicemail asking what's going on with it. No call back so far.
Super sucky

That would really tick me off BIG TIME if someone agreed to sell me something at an agreed on price and then didn't follow through. Even if it was just a verbal agreement the seller is morally obligated to follow through.
Yeah... My ass is definitely chapped a little bit about it, but oh well. I can spend the 500$ on some new tires for my car.
Time to scrub up the L2000 lol
So now that I have it and put it through some week high grass I must say I love it. No motor bog downs like with the old one and starts like a champ.
My only 2 complaints are that the steering is a little tough and I can't instantly go in reverse like with the old one. I have to shift into R first.
It had 90hrs on the clock when I got it. Put just under an hr onto it when ran it through its paces.
Other than that I love it! 500$ well spent.
JD... depending on where you are, that's not a bad deal. I would take that. Mechanically its sound. There are a couple of rust spots (nickle sized) on the deck and the mower engage lever has some light surface rust on it. Other than that its a beaute.
