Glow plug switch is activating the starter

Hey everyone, I'm having hard start issues with my Toro 223-D. So much that it is draining the battery and heating up the positive terminal. It also heats up the fuel shut off solenoid. Anyway, while trying to heat the glow plugs, the switch turns over the motor! I'm no wiring genius but something isn't right here!

This service manual may be of some help. Section 5 goes through electrical troubleshooting. You didn’t supply the serial number so I’m unsure as to which wiring diagram to use. The first part I would test is the key switch. https://www.toro.com/getpub/45559
