I have a 1995 Cub Cadet 1863 Garden Tractor with only about 300 hours on it.

I live about an hour from any of the Cub Cadet dealers and I am needing to add some hydraulic fluid to my resevoir that lifts the deck. I used the last of my quart of Cub Cadet brand (Cub Cadet Part #737-3025) and don't want to travel so far to get more with gas prices like they are.

Does anyone know what hydraulic fluid I can use (Type F, Dextron, Dextron II, etc) that will work and not cause any harm by deviating from the name brand?

Thank you,

I have used hydraulic fluid purchased at NAPA and has worked fine. I have 2500hrs on my 1863 so it must be alright.

Thanks for the reply...sounds like it should work for me.

When I checked at Walmart before I posted, there were different types of hydraulic fluids, ie Dextron, Dextron II, Type F. When I go to NAPA, what do I ask for?

Thanks for your help.

If you have a petroleum distributor in your area, (they supply service stations and repair shops) I would give them a call. They should be able to give you a cross reference.

Thanks, I'll check and see if I can locate a petroleum distributor in my area.
