I have some. The parts can be a pain to track down without going through a Dixie chopper dealer. They are closely related to a Briggs. What are your questions about it?

My search for a new mower has narrowed down to hustler with a Kawasaki or a chopper with a Generac, I had not heard of the Generac motor so I didn't know what their track record was.

cactusjack24,
Have you looked at threads in the Dixie Chopper brand-specific forum on here?

I'd go with the hustler out of the two.

The Generac is manufactured by Generac Power systems in Whitewater Wisconsin and they are no way affiliated with Briggs & Stratton. They make electric power generators for your homehttp://www.answerbag.com/q_view/2148618#, and RV use as well as mower engines for your business. They're probably one of the better mower engines made but there also one of the most expensive. You will not go wrong with the Dixie Chopper.

Anyone know where you can find a parts diagram for a generac off a Dixie chopper?

I am one to do a lot of research on things i buy. (Thats why I'm choosing a dixie chopper) but info on the Generac engine sucks, theres just not a lot of info out there on it. Im looking right now for the proper way to break in this engine. And NO info anywhere I've found. I did go in and place a order today for my 3360HP 2013 dixie. And i cannot wait to get it in. Its coming straight from Indiana too. It will be the friday after next before it is ready. I am really excited about this purchase. It was expensive, but in the end i think it will be cheaper than buying throw away motors. Personally, if this Generac 33 ever goes out, i wouldn't mind looking into finding a way to install a cummins 4BT. LOL:thumbsup:

You mean that in spite of the fact that Briggs & Stratton owns Generac????Generac always used Briggs engines until Briggs bought them.Briggs then moved one of its older lines to a new plant and re named it Generac. They used to be made in Waukesha Wi.So my guess is there is more than a few ties to B&S.

Actually Briggs never purchased Generac, Generac was just caught in the middle. Briggs actually acquired its consumer generator business from the Beacon Group and formed Briggs & Stratton Power Products and the beacon group already owned the Consumer Products Division of Generac Corporation which now is Generac Power Systems. All that doesn't mean that the Generac has any thing to do with the Briggs and Stratton engine. Briggs also purchased Evinrude and Johnson outboard and created the Outboard Marine Corporation but they don't run B&S motors. Thing is there a lot of different lawn mower engines on the market and Modern Tool and Die make parts for a lot of different engines but that doesn't mean there made by MTD does it? You are correct they do have ties to B&S but Generac makes there own mower engine it's not a B&S to my knowledge.

Mine ran seven straight days last yr.......without fail runs like a top 17kw generator. V-twin 991cc engine ... Mines been run for 6-7 yrs now. I exercise it twice a month. It's had several good long stretches of runs 3 days - 4 days.....week is the longest so far. Bunch of one day runs.

Hello Cactusjack24! My cousin has a Dixie chopper with a Generac engine (33hp engine I think) on it and he has had it for 3 years now and never had a problem with it. Dixie Chopper makes a sound machine. Hustler is great as well. Almost bought one until I found an mz5225 that fit my needs better. I have never heard of any problems with Generac stuff. Good luck on your mower hunt!!!

I have a generac engine on my Dixie chopper and only after 377 hrs. has developed a oil leak. I have been told several things, I have repaired the one for the oil sensor but now oil is coming from the bottom of the engine. To fix this problem well a $70.00 hr. labor it gets expensive.
