Gen 2 LB oil vs. old ashless mix

In the past I've used the old ashless Lawn Boy oil, but ACE didn't have any when I needed to pick some up the other day. The mower I'm using is a '76 model and seems to run fine on the LB Gen 2 oil/gas mix @ 32/1. Just curious if it'd perform any better on the old oil. Thanks.

I don't know the answer since I've never used either oil.

I wonder if there has ever been an empirical study comparing different brands of two-stroke oil. I have no idea which is best.

What do you know about the gen 2 oil? Is it a synthetic blend? Why'd they quit the ashless oil?
