Hello fellow tinkerers, I have a Snapper rear engine rider about 15 years old. Can't find ID plate on frame. I believe it's a 31 inch that started with a 8HP and was upgraded to a 12.5 HP Briggs and Stratton. This mower sat out in the elements for 3 years. Last month I got the carb cleaned and replaced the battery to get it going. 2 major problems:

1- The starter was sluggish like there was too much compression at first. Now the only response Iget to turning the key isa click at the solenoid. If I jump power straight to the starter it will turn sometimes after I rotate it by hand. I tried replacing the solenoid but couldn't get it grounded well. It wouldn't even click.

2- The gear shift lever id very stiff to move. Right now the mower will only pull in reverse and high gear. In high you have to coax it and wait a minute dor it to move after the clutch is released.

I'm getting a battery for my electrical tester today. I need to figure out how to access underneath without reinjuring an old surgery.

Appreciate all comments.
