just a shout out for some help please what does one do if one cannot find gaskets that are not made anymore is there some type of material i can buy to make my owen gaskets allendanaher@gmail.com:confused2:

cereal box's work well its what I use when i havent got any paper.

When buying gasket material, knowing your needs and conveying them to the knowledgeable :biggrin: counter person can be important. Example: If you see paper gasket material labeled WOG that means it is good for water, oil and gas.
Something else to consider is thickness. More often than not people will go for the thickest they can find. Big mistake. If the surfaces are flat .015625" thickness is way more desirable than .125" and you'll discover that if you are tapping out a gasket with a ball peen hammer.

Buy two tools which will pay for themselves many times over. One, a hand held punch with a rotary head full of small punches which are squeezed on a small , self contained brass anvil (leather punch?).
Next a Harbor Freight hand punch set of sizes from about 3/8" up to about 1", mallet driven. Chinese in a 10"x 10" ? metal box.
Technique: when possible drape and hold gasket over mating surface and lightly peen to describe cut out and hole location for cutting and punching. :smile:

you can make a head gasket out of copper sheathing.take the old gasket and draw a out line on your copper sheeting, cut it out then take a drill cut your head bolts out. You may have to cut more than one gasket to get the desired thickness that you need. (If you need more than one, for desired thickness, you will have to use "Form-a-gasket" to bond them together). I have had success with this method.
