I recently acquired what I thought was a good used a Billy Goat Outback brush cutter "mower". Sadly it has multiple problems that did not show up during a trial run.
One is that after about a minute of operation the engine dies. I took the air filter off, and found the reason the engine is quitting is that the fuel begins to shoot out of the carb air intake like a geyser.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this? It's a Briggs and Stratton 10.5 HP engine. My first though is a defective float or seal in the carb fuel bowl.
Float valve not sealing. Could be the needle valve itself, could be the seat has a burr, could be dirt preventing it from sealing. Could be a problem with the float itself. or less common is the atmospheric vent in clogged.
