Engine would run at low speed but had no power. Found internal lining of fuel line being sucked closed by fuel pump, take line loose from pump and gas ran freely. Line giving problem was from tank selector valve to pump. Did a lot of talking to this machine.

Some of the early low permeation fuel lines had issues with the inner liner coming loose and doing exactly what you are talking about.

I would assume that this could happen on any machine regardless of engine type or size just happened to be a Hustler this time.
