My Briggs & Stratton 44M777 engine drips gas from the exhaust when starting cold with throttle in full choke position as starter motor cranks for 20 to 30 seconds. Repositioning the throttle to middle of operating range and re-engaging starter allows engine to start and run smoothly but with exhaust smoke beginning faintly and growing to dense smoke after a few minutes of run time.
