Garden soil?

I am wondering what the best thing to add to compost to make it a healthy soil is. This year my garden did not do so well. My carrots and radishes did not turn out well at all. Any ideas for a healthier garden welcome.

Did you use composted dirt last year? Is there any chance that coffee grind and other things like that got in to the compost. Some things need to stay out of the compost of they don't make for good soil.

I use composted manure in my gardens and my plants seem to really love it. I don't really fertilize much and things still flourish. I use a mix of composted manure and peat moss.

Hrm, I do add things like coffee grinds. I will have to be more selective about what I put in my compost. What are some other things that I should keep out of my compost.

I will also try and get some manure to mix with it.
