I have be unable to find a replacement fuel pump for my 1995 Yardman lawn tractor. Was wondering if one of the small electric pumps would work? If so which one would you suggest. Thanks

Can't really help you much until you give us the numbers off the engine. My ESP went down with this heat wave we're having.

Sorry forgot to include numbers. It is a Kohler MV 20 S Spec 57526, Dis LC 670, Serial # 2503702686. I have entered those numbers in several vendors website. The pump that they show doesn't look like the one on my machine. That is reason to ask if I could discontinue the use of the original and use an electric in its place.

Kohler part number for your Magnum is 52-559-03 and it is still available. Search around as the prices vary alot.

Yes sir saw that number, unfortunately it looks nothing like the one on my mower. Thus the reason for asking about an electric one.

I have hopefully attached a couple of pictures of the fuel pump.

Just looked up your engine number under Kohler and they show this fuel pump. So something is wrong.

Where are you getting your engine numbers from?

Did someone replace the engine at some point?

Recently replaced the fuel pumps on two older Kohlers with the pump pictured in Brian902s post.
These are camshaft driven pumps and should you purchase one, do not install the adjustable inlet and outlet fittings until you are absolutely sure which one and its position as you will damage the pump housing trying to get them out to reposition them!!!!
If you decide on an electric fuel pump, make sure that it has max output pressure of 1.5 PSI, higher pressure pumps will push by the needle and seat in the carb and flood the engine. With an electric fuel pump, you will still need to blank off the mounting area of the old pump.

Thanks gents. The numbers came directly off the engine and are clear and easy to read. I can't say if the engine was replaced at anytime as I recently acquired this mower. The one pictured in Brian s post looks nothing like mine. I will take the old one to a repair shop and see if they can match it up. If anyone has any other suggestions they would be both welcome and appreciated.

The part number I gave you is the replacement pump for your engine. It comes with multiple inlets and outlets to match your application. As stated, you have a disassembled pump which runs off the camshaft.

The pump pictured is the one I took off the engine. Are you saying the one pictured will adapt even though the hole pattern on the body of the pump is different?

52-559-01 is superseded to 52-559-03. The only hole pattern you have to worry about is how it is bolted to the engine. The replacement pumps are not serviceable, so they may look a bit different.

Mad Mackie I understand about blanking off the engine if using a electric pump. I planned on putting the old one back in place and plugging the inlet and outlet holes.
The 52 509 03 that is supposed to work will not match up with the number or hole spacing of the one pictured which is the one I took off the engine.

So thinking last night in bed, I realized you have the top half of the pump that you removed from the engine.

The rest is bolted onto the side and needs to come off.

Take all with you when buying the replacement.

Much better than trying to improvise and electric unit.

Brian there is nothing left on the engine to unbolt. There is just the hole for the plunger into the engine and four holes for the bolts. I currently have it covered with duct tape to keep dirt and moisture out. The pump in the pictures is the pump in its entirety.

Darn, then it must be some sort of special application for this engine.

It's going to be tough to find a fix.

Any pics of the engine and the area that this fits on?

From your pictures it looks to me the you did not remove the fuel pump from the engine, just split the pump in half. Your picture is that of the upper half which contains the diagram and inlet and outlet ports. Are you telling us that there are not two 1/4-20 bolts just below where you removed these parts? Look at pages 6.3 & 12.18 of this manual, which shows the type of pump we are talking about. I know it is not your engine, but shows the best pics of the pump.

Rivets I think you are probably correct. I bet I missed the two bolts you are talking about, will check in the morning. I sure hope so. Saw a guy on Youtube sub the Kohler pump with a Briggs and Stratton vacuum pump. Have any of you tried doing that? It would certainly be less expensive. Thanks to everyone for all of the help I really appreciate it.
