Cleaned the carb by removing and bench removed all the needle valves, fuel is new and flowing, no leaks. Unit runs well when gas is fed manually through the carb but dies when t runs out. How does the fuel system work and how can I fix? Jim in a Swanzey Nh

The HT-R3009 has atypical gravity-feed fuel tank, where the lowest part of the fuel tank sits a bit higher than the inlet of the carburetor. Double check to ensure fuel is flowing from the tank, with the cap on and tight (this will confirm it is venting okay). There is a small inline filter fitted between the outlet nipple of the tank and the fuel tube connected to the carburetor. A gentle puff of compressed air through the fuel valve (on the carb body) might help clear out any obstructions. A mower that old (nearly 25 years) is bound to have some crud in the fuel system somewhere...

Before I look for a drawing, can you confirm you need the diameter of the 'tailpipe' (#6) in this drawing? It is the last part of the exhaust system:

hi robert ! and thanks for your answer !
it's not the part 6 but the diameter of the part 1 (the tube in S) between the cylinder head and the exhaust

Yes, but it may take a while for me to get our service group to pull the drawing, which should have the all dimensions of that part.

Stand by.

Assuming the drawing has the dimensions, I can share them as soon as I get the drawing from the service team. Might take a day or so.
